Actress Jennifer Garner surprised with key to Charleston for her birthday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — West Virginia’s own Jennifer Garner got quite a birthday surprise during the Drew Barrymore Show on Monday.

The actress was awarded the key to the city of Charleston and more during a message from mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin.

This surprise is meaningful. It comes from your hometown Charleston, West Virginia,” Barrymore said. “From here on out, April 17 will be known as Jennifer Garner Day in Charleston."

Goodwin talked about Garner’s contribution to the arts and the state of West Virginia during the surprise video.

Garner, who appeared to be a little emotional following the video, turned 51 on Monday.

The Charleston native has starred in a number of films of the years, including “Daredevil,” “13 Going on 30,” and “Dallas Buyers Club.”
