The BJP has decided to defeat the ruling BRS in an indirect manner. As part of it, the BJP is planning to use leaders like Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who had declared independence, for its benefit. Political observers felt that the BJP was planning to give a blow to both the BRS and Congress by admitting Ponguleti into the party as its senior leader Etala Rajender and several others flocked to him and began talks with him. However, it took some time to understand the BJP’s plan.
As per the plan, Ponguleti would float a new political outfit Telangana Rythu Samakhya (TRS). His followers had registered the party and Ponguleti would make a formal announcement about the same very soon. There is buzz that this party would be supporting the BJP but on the outside, it would not appear like that as the new party would stand to lose if it gets an ‘unsecular’ stamp.
By naming his political outfit TRS, Ponguleti is of the idea to create some confusion too in the electorate. The party would contest from 45 constituencies, including the 10 constituencies in Khammam. The remaining 35 places would include constituencies which the BJP feels would be tough to win. It is learnt that Srinivas is aiming to win from at least 15 constituencies, as discussed by the BJP leaders several times.
Ponguleti is giving priority to strong, capable and reliable political leaders in his party. He himself will be the party in-charge of Khammam district while Jupalli Krishna Rao will head the Mahabubnagar district. Chakilam Anil Kumar was identified to be the in-charge of Nalgonda and his close relative former MP Ramasahayam Surender Reddy’s son will take up the responsibility of the party affairs in Warangal district.
Ponguleti’s party aims at splitting the ruling BRS votes, as directed by the BJP bigwigs. If the BJP wins nearly 30-40 seats, then the 15 seats won by Ponguleti’s party would help it form the minority government in Telangana. Then, Ponguleti would be the deputy chief minister.
Further, there will be a chance to pull out dissident leaders from other parties. Defeating the BRS is the sole aim of Ponguleti and BJP.
