Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID) declared a war against the social media trolls. In the latest update, APCID Additional Director General S Sanjay warned that the department will attach the properties of social media offenders in the State if they are found resorting to abusive, provocative, and unacceptable language.

This warning from AP CID should alert a large number of social media trolls because the CID is coming up with a strategic process to curb social media abuse. CID is arranging special teams and monitoring cells to eradicate unacceptable postings. They are implementing the methods to investigate each case and account with the help of platform owners.

Also, the CID is collaborating with the UK and USA to send the CID teams to put down the NRI trolls. CID ADG Sanjay revealed that they will be lodging cases against those who abuse the Judiciary department and also the court orders from the honorable courts.

Sanjay further said that it has become most common for many on social media to post abusive content against the CM and his family members, Opposition leaders, members, Judges, celebrities, and other prominent people in respectable positions. Amid the election season, the CID pledged a war to put those trolls down and stressed the need for social media policing and discipline. He mentioned the need for social responsibility.

The CID chief explains that they have removed more than 1450 abusive postings in 2022 and the number increased to 2164 this year. A total of 1465 social media accounts are being monitored this year. In the recent past, social media trolls posting abusive content against the judiciary were identified and action was initiated against these accounts.

The CID has opened 2972 ‘Cyberbully sheets’ in the State and an investigation is in progress. CID also filed cases against 45 NRIs and issued five Look-Out Circulars.

So the social media trolls and abusers who think they can get away with anything they post need to think twice before posting anything online.
