Hamilton started his movie profession in 1952 and although he has a significant body of work in movie and television he is, perhaps, most popular for his debonair design and his ideal and everlasting color. Bo Derek wrote in his life story “there was a continuous competition between John [Derek] and George Hamilton as to who was tanner”.
Hamilton’s initial roles were in TV. He showed up on series as “The Veil”, “The Activities of Rin Tin Tin”, “The Donna Reed Show” and “Cimarron City”.
His first movie part was a lead “Crime and Punishment U.S.A.” (1959). Although taken in 1958 it was not launched until the following season. However, it was seen by Vincente Minnelli who believed Hamilton would be perfect for young son “Home from the Hill” (1960), a Southeast melodrama with Robert Mitchum. Hamilton was properly cast and the film was well-known. MGM finalized him to a long-term agreement.
